The Obama Worship Continues

Mickey McClean at WORLD Mag writes this about Newsweek's Evan Thomas
'Obama = God' statement:
Since the presidential campaign, conservatives often have pointed out that the left and its acolytes in the mainstream media worship Barack Obama as their messiah, a claim that has been dismissed as partisan rhetoric. Now Newsweek Editor Evan Thomas flat out admits it. On MSNBC’s Hardball Friday night, he tells Chris Matthews, “In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above the world, he’s sort of God.” To which you hear Matthews in agreement, saying, “Yeah.”

And quoting Thomas on WJLA's Inside Washington:
Then, in an appearance on WJLA’s Inside Washington this weekend, Thomas continued his adoration of Obama in messiah-like language: “We’re understanding what Obama is. He’s the great teacher. He is this guy that stands above everybody . . . and says, ‘Now, listen. You people have to stop blaming each other unreasonably. You have to get along here and I’m going to show you the way.’”

So, what do you think about all this?!

Sotomayor and Race

Other statements help explain that the judge's racist statement in question is not isolated, nor taken out of context.

Sotomayor also told an audience at Duke University in 2005:
"All of the legal defense funds out there, they're looking for people with Court of Appeals experience. Because it is — Court of Appeals is where policy is made. And I know, and I know, that this is on tape, and I should never say that. Because we don't 'make law,' I know. [Laughter from audience] Okay, I know. I know. I'm not promoting it, and I'm not advocating it. I'm, you know. [More laughter] Having said that, the Court of Appeals is where, before the Supreme Court makes the final decision, the law is percolating. Its interpretation, its application."

Pat Buchanan pointed out in his column this past week that the issue of race and gender has been a focus of Sotomayor for a long time:
"At Princeton, she headed up Accion Puertorriquena, which filed a complaint with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare demanding that her school hire Hispanic teachers. At Yale, she co-chaired a coalition of non-black minorities of color that demanded more Latino professors and administrators.

At Yale, she "shared the alarm of others in the group when the Supreme Court prohibited the use of quotas in university admissions in the 1978 decision Regents of the University of California v. Bakke."

And as WORLDNETDAILY reports here affiliation with NCLR cannot be overlooked, "As President Obama's Supreme Court nominee comes under heavy fire for allegedly being a "racist," Judge Sonia Sotomayor is listed as a member of the National Council of La Raza, a group that's promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police. According the American Bar Association. Meaning "the Race," La Raza also has connections to groups that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America. Over the past two days, Sotomayor has been heavily criticized for her racially charged statement: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." The remark was actually made during a 2001 speech at the University of California's Berkeley School of Law. The lecture was published the following year in the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal."

400 Graduating Students Protest the ACLU

VALUES VOTERS NEWS reported this week: Santa Rosa County, FL - Nearly 400 graduating seniors at Pace High School stood up in protest against the ACLU and recited the Lord’s Prayer during their graduation ceremony on Saturday. Many of the students also painted crosses on their graduation caps to make a statement of faith. This event follows a lawsuit the ACLU filed against the Santa Rosa County School District, claiming some of the teachers and administration endorsed religion. Liberty Counsel represents Pace High School Principal Frank Lay and school teacher Michelle Winkler.

The graduation prayer protest by the students was preceded by a lawsuit filed six months ago by the ACLU. The school district entered into a consent decree, which essentially bans all Santa Rosa County School District employees from engaging in prayer or religious activities. The ACLU alleges that during a dinner event held at Pace High School, Principal Lay asked the athletic director to bless the meal. In another incident, the ACLU alleges that Michelle Winkler’s husband, who is not a school board employee, offered prayer at an awards ceremony. Leading up to the graduation ceremony, the ACLU demanded the school to censor students from offering prayers or saying anything religious. The ACLU then charged Principal Lay and Ms. Winkler with contempt of court.

The students at Pace High School were furious with the ACLU hijacking their free speech rights and decided to take a stand at graduation. As soon as Principal Lay asked everyone to be seated at the ceremony, the graduating class remained standing and recited the Lord’s Prayer. The ACLU has not taken any legal action yet but has stated that something should have been done to stop the prayer.

Mathew D. Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law, commented: “Neither students nor teachers shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The students at Pace High School refused to remain silent and were not about to be bullied by the ACLU. We have decided to represent faculty, staff and students of Pace High School, because the ACLU is clearly violating their First Amendment rights. Schools are not religion-free zones, and any attempt to make them so is unconstitutional.”

Sarah Palin Shakes up FOX News Liberals

Chris Wallace uncharacteristically gave Barack Obama's Chief Strategist, David Axelrod, carte blanche during his interview today on FOX News Sunday.

Failing to challenge Axelrod's avoidance in answering questions directly over and over again, and allowing him to go on and on with the standard Obama talking points, was strikingly different than the treatment Wallace gave to John McCain's Campaign Manager, Rick Davis, who he continually interrupted to challenge, sometimes even argued with, such as regarding when the McCain campaign was going to 'allow' Sarah Palin to be interviewed by the media.

And on Saturday's Beltway Boys, Mort Kondracke referred to Palin, McCain's VP running mate, as "that Wacko Right-winger". His exact quote was:

"If Jindal had been Governor of Louisiana in 2005, everything would have been different and he would be John McCain's running mate instead of this wacko right-winger."

So much for 'fair and balanced' from the liberals at FOX News.

As Brent Baker over at NewsBusters reported: Kondracke also conceded that journalists were hoping their reporting would uncover “deep, dark secrets” which would force Palin to withdraw or become an anchor around John McCain:

"I don't deny that a lot of our colleagues were hoping that she would, you know that there would be deep, dark secrets and that she'd turn out to be Tom Eagleton or Geraldine Ferraro..."

Alaska's Governor, Sarah Palin, the hockey mom with lipstick, seems to have liberals shaking in their boots every channel we turn to.

Obama's Pastor: 'God Damn America!"

Open up your eyes, America!

Barack Obama's pastor and top spiritual advisor tells his congregation not to sing 'God Bless America' but 'God Damn America!"

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

Rev. Wright, who declined to be interviewed by ABC News, is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.

Obama has praised at least one aspect of Rev. Wright's approach, referring to his "social gospel" and his focus on Africa, "and I agree with him on that."

“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people,” Wright said. “Hillary would never know that.

“Hillary ain’t never been called a nigg____. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.”

In his Jan. 13 sermon, Wright said:

“Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.”

FOX News purchased the video recordings of Wright’s sermons from the church.

“It’s pretty clear an indirect endorsement of Barack Obama - that’s not something you’re supposed to do according to the tax code,” said Andrew Walsh, a professor at Trinity College who specializes in religion in politics.

The tax code bans churches from participating in or intervening in a political campaign. Violations can result in the loss of a church’s tax exempt status.

The Obama campaign issued a statement in response to FOX News’ inquiries about Wright’s sermons.

“Senator Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they’re offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church,” said Bill Burton, a campaign spokesman.

“Senator Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Senator Obama deeply disagrees.”

Barack Obama's Very Controversial Pastor

Barack Obama’s friend, pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, said in a 2003 church publication, "In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the Western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just 'disappeared,' as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring Black concerns."

Now, I’m sorry but I don’t see what 9/11 has to do with Black concerns, do you? But Barack Obama says he is "proud" of Wright and values their 20-year friendship, even if they “don’t agree on everything.”

Wright married Obama and baptized his daughters, and in his 1993 memoir "Dreams from My Father," he tells of his first meeting with Wright in 1985. He also based his 2004keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on a sermon by Wright called "Audacity to Hope," which also inspired second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope."

In the November/December 2007 issue of Trumpet, their church’s publication, Wright praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has described whites as "blue-eyed devils" and Jews as "bloodsuckers." Wright wrote, "He brings a perspective that is helpful and honest….and will be remembered as one of the 20th and 21st century giants of the African-American religious experience. His integrity and honesty have secured him a place in history as one of the nation's most powerful critics…and a religious leader who is sincere about his faith and his purpose."

Farrakhan's photo is on the cover of the church magazine, is accompanied by the headline: "The Minister truly epitomized greatness." Wright presented Farrakhan with a "lifetime achievement" award during a church gala held in Chicago. "For his commitment to truth, education and leadership." (See Wright's video honoring Farrakhan)
But what about this side of Farrakhan who said:

In 1984 Farrakhan, "Hitler was a very great man. He wasn't great for me as a Black man but he was a great German and he rose Germany up from the ashes of her defeat by the united force of all of Europe and America after the first World War." A decade later, Farrakhan reiterated the claim that Hitler was a "great man".

And, "Now, that nation of Israel, never has had any peace in forty years and she will never have any peace because there can never be any peace structured on injustice, thievery, lying and deceit and using the name of God to shield your dirty religion under His holy and righteous name."

And, "Do you know some of these satanic Jews have taken over BET?... Everything that we built, they have. The mind of Satan now is running the record industry, movie industry and television. And they make us look like we’re the murders; we look like we’re the gangsters, but we’re punk stuff.”

And, "This Koran says that the Jews have altered the word of God out of its place. They did not want the masters of the people to know what Jesus really said, what Moses really said, because then you wouldn't have a yardstick to measure their deviations."

Last week, Barack Obama distanced himself from Farrakhan, but not from Wright or his praise for Farrakhan. Why not?

Obama also took back his invitation for his pastor to pray at the launch of his campaign, and many are wondering if he wins the presidency, will he ask Wright to pray at his inauguration?

Do you think Hillary will use this information against Barack? If she thinks she needs to and it will help her win. Clearly, these views are dangerous to be affiliated with if you’re a candidate…running for the President of the United States...the President of all the people of the United States.

"We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."

Scientists Threatened with Death Over Global Warming

According to Tom Harper at Telegraph.co.uk: Scientists who question man's impact on global warming/climate change have received death threats.

"They say the debate on global warming has been "hijacked" by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions.

"Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

"One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming."

Professor Ball and others appeared on television in "The Great Global Warming Swindle" documentary in which several scientists said the theory of man being responsible for global warming has become a 'religion' which ignores other viable explanations for climate change.

Richard Lindzen, professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who also appeared in the documentary, said, "Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges. Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science."

Other scientists agree with Ball and Lindzen, such as Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, said: "The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do."

In response to receiving the death threats, Professor Timothy Ball said, "I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal." (read the full story here).

Climate skeptics are nothing new. And they claimed back in 2002 that it is "a media myth" to suppose that only a few scientists share their scepticism.

Senator James Inhofe, U.S. Senate Minority Leader of the Environment & Public Works Committee released "The Skeptic's Guide to Debunking Global Warming Alarmism - Hot & Cold Media Spin Cycle: A Challenge To Journalists who Cover Global Warming.”

The ‘Skeptic’s Guide’, which has received recognition by the LA Times and Congressional Quarterly, is now available free on the Senate Environmental & Public Works Web site.

The book features web links to all supporting documentation, and serves as a handbook to identify the major players in media bias when it comes to poor climate science reporting.

According to the Senator's website: "The guide presents a reporter’s virtual who’s-who’s of embarrassing and one-sided media coverage, with a focus on such reporters as CBS News “60 Minutes” Scott Pelley, ABC News reporter Bill Blakemore, CNN’s Miles O’Brien, and former NBC Newsman Tom Brokaw. Senator Inhofe’s “Skeptic’s Guide” also includes hard hitting critiques of the New York Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Associated Press, Reuters, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Washington Post." (read more here).

No matter which side any scientist is on in regards to the issue of global warming, the news of death threats to those who do not agree that man is responsible for climate change is shocking to say the least.

And raises the question: what else is at stake that would cause death threats to be given?

What do you think?

Gays Mock Jesus & Last Supper in San Francisco

BEFORE THEY COVERED IT UP

AFTER THEY COVERED IT, AS OF 10 PM PST 9/25/07

As if Ahmadinejad's visit, welcome at Columbia University, and arrogant comments weren't enough this week...
Gays Mock Jesus and the Last Supper:

You know, just when you think you’ve seen or read it all – here in California, in San Francisco, organizers of the city’s hedonistic Folsom Street Fair (sponsored by Miller Brewing, Co) have portrayed Christ and the Last Supper with the bread and wine replaced with "Sex Toys" and his disciples as half-naked homosexual sadomasochists as the event’s promnotional advertisement.

And to top is off, California taxpayers get to pay for it!

Concerned Women for America released a statement saying: “Gay activists disingenuously call Christians ‘haters’ and ‘homophobes’ for honoring the Bible, but then lash out in this hateful manner toward the very people they accuse. In their version of The Last Supper, Christ, Who gave His life for our sins, is despicably replaced by sin itself as the object of worship. We’re calling on California’s elected officials – Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Governor Schwarzenegger and Senators Feinstein and Boxer – to publicly condemn this unprovoked attack against Christ and His followers. We further challenge the media to cover this affront to Christianity with the same vigor as recent stories about cartoon depictions of Mohammed and other items offensive to the Muslim community.”

So, taxpayers pay for it, the City of San Francisco sanctions it, several city blocks are shut down to platform it, and SF police are on the job at it for security.

Matt Barber of CWA said, "The most vile acts of debauchery are commonplace during the fair. While Senator Larry Craig was arrested and driven out of the Senate for allegedly soliciting public ‘gay’ sex, during this event the city of San Francisco suspends the law and allows ‘gay’ men and women to parade the streets fully nude, many having sex — even group orgies — in broad daylight, while taxpayer funded police officers look on and do absolutely nothing – in the name of ‘tolerance.’"

Unbelievable!

Pesky Peaceniks & Senate Theatrics

(Rep. Lynn Woolsey & McKinney CODEPINK advocates)

As you know the Democrat controlled Senate is doing their all-nighter to debate the war in Iraq. I listened to some of it on C-SPAN. Senator Harkin read several letters from his Iowa constituents - all wanting the troops to come home--now.

Harkin accused President Bush of cherry-picking elements of reports on the progress in Iraq, saying Bush would do it again after the General gives his report in Sept. But the letters Harkin read from voters in his state were all against the war. Surely there are some in his state who agree with the other 51% of Americans who believe the surge should go through Sept. And surely he's heard from some of them! Hello?

I talked on the show today about CODEPINK's current targets: the Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.

As the SF Chronicle reported: Medea Benjamin, the San Francisco activist and Green Party leader who co-founded the group, CODEPINK, is leading the group in shifting its attention to Congress after a four-month daily vigil outside the White House...saying, "We put all our pressure on the Bush administration to begin with. Obviously, that didn't make a difference. So we thought, 'Let's move who we can move, let's change the Congress,' and so we went out and worked like hell to get Democrats elected. Now we are putting pressure on the Democrats who control Congress. It seems like a logical strategy to me."

(Medea Benjamin Founder CODEPINK)

We've done shows on CODEPINK - who they are, their agenda, etc., so I didn't get in to their ideology and history today, but rather their activities and effectiveness.

But remember? They infiltrated the Democrat and Republican national conventions in 2004. Bush's acceptance speech was interrupted twice by the group, including CODEPINK co-founder Jodie Evans, who removed her dress to reveal a pink slip with the words: "Fire Bush! Women Say Bring Home the Troops Now."

(Jodie Evans, co-founder CODEPINK)

As the SF Chronicle reported recently: CodePink has intensified its anti-war efforts by renting a house on Capitol Hill, which serves as a command center and a crash pad for activists. Decorated with pink curtains, pink streamers and even a pink mailbox, it looks like what would happen if Barbie opened a boarding house for peaceniks. The basement is the "peace room" -- not the war room -- where members plan strategy and decorate pink banners with slogans such as "War Causes Global Warming." hmmmmm

At the front door is a whiteboard marking the day's events of Senate or House Committee hearings, so activists can choose what to protest. They watch C-SPAN from the house and text their fellow activists inside hearing rooms to get them perfectly placed within the frame of the TV cameras for maximum publicity. That explains why, when ex-CIA agent Valerie Wilson testified before Congress, viewers couldn't avoid seeing a woman behind her in a bright pink shirt reading, "Impeach Bush."

Well, all I can say is that while the Senate is 'sacrificing' staying up all night to debate the war in front of the whole world, including our enemies, and CODEPINK puts the pressure on Democrats to get our, now...our troops are heroically make the rest of us proud.

Today's live show is not archive online, but you can hear my recent interviews with Captain Timothy Tate who wrote a book, "Emails from Baghdad" and tells it what it's really like on the streets there, and the view of the troops, who are not happy with our anti-war antics here at home.

Cases of Forced Abortions Surface in China
By Louisa Lim NPR.org

A slogan on a village building outside Baise in southwest China, reads, "Keep the birth rate low to enhance the quality of the population."

Morning Edition, April 23, 2007 · Dozens of women in southwest China have recently been forced into abortions, some late in their pregnancies. It's not the first time a local government has been accused of such an action, but it's surprising because China has relaxed its law that limits each family to one child.

What do you get when you give Arabs Land in Israel? Turmoil

Myles Weiss, my co-host on Middle East affairs joined me on the show today to talk about what's going on in Israel with Arabs killing Arabs in Gaza; PA Mahmoud Abbas having to form a new government; Israel once again having 83 yr. old Shimon Peres take the position of President...turmoil is really too mild a word for what's happening.

Hamas (Palestinian Muslim) fighting Fatah (Palestinian Muslim) in Gaza is no surprise to those of us who have been saying that Jews giving up their land for the hope of peace won't work.

Hamas seizes key Fatah Installations

Land is NOT the answer! Not only will terrorist groups continue to fuel hatred amongst the Palestinians for the Jews no matter how much land they give up, but that hatred turns Arab brother against Arab brother.

Hamas fighter holds Koran

As Arutz Sheva reports:
"The home of deceased PLO chief Yassir Arafat was looted Saturday, with Arafat’s Nobel Peace Prize taken, along with his various military uniforms. Arafat received the prize together with Israel’s new president Shimon Peres and former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin after signing the Oslo Accords."

"In Israeli prisons, Hamas and Fatah terrorists have been separated to avoid bloodshed."
And, "Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu says we must learn the lessons from the Hamas takeover of Gaza, and ensure that it doesn't happen in Judea and Samaria."
Speaking on the government-run Voice of Israel Radio, Netanyahu said, "We must understand the dangers: Every piece of land that we unilaterally evacuate, becomes a place where rockets are deployed against us. We must ensure that what is happening in Gaza doesn't reach Judea and Samaria as well. Unilateral withdrawals are not the answer. We said in the past that the retreat from Gush Katif would lead to increased terrorism and arms-smuggling, and we were right. We cannot have an Iranian base on the outskirts of Be’er Sheva and Tel Aviv."

The New York Times reported:
Islam Shahwan, a spokesman for the Hamas militia, told Hamas radio triumphantly: “The era of justice and Islamic rule have arrived.”

The prime minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, said: “I call on my friend Abu Mazen,” referring to Mr. Abbas, who was in Ramallah, “to take the opportunity, now that almost the entire world understands the viciousness, the brutality of Hamas, to exercise his authority as the leader of the Palestinian people.”
We received more than usual response to the show. If you missed it you can still catch it online. Myles was pretty passionate about the issue having just returned from Israel.

Highway Robbery - NAFTA Super Hiway

Recently on the show we aired talks given by Dan & Margaret Byfield at a recent California Eagle Forum Conference which I was privileged to MC. the information they shared out of their personal experience living close to the new Trans-Texas Corridor which is part of the NAFTA Super Highway, as well as out of their experience as land rights experts, is shocking if you've not yet heard about what's going on.

Dan is the Producer of two television productions, "Who Owns the Land?" and "Standing Ground" which have been shown on national cable and PBS stations, and won awards. He is also the president of Liberty Matters, and his wife, Margaret, is Executive Director of Stewards of the Range. They share the unbelievable land rights abuses that are taking place with the NAFTA Super Highway.

I highly recommend you listen to the show online if you missed it on the air. Very few are talking about this, except Jim Corsi and Phyllis Schlafly....and our show.

Pork has no place in Funding the War

While most of the media attention about the various Iraq-war funding bills has been focused on the battle between the Democrat-led Congress and President Bush on a time-table for troop withdrawal, more attention needs to be given to the 'pork' that has been added to the Democrat-sponsored bills, 'pork' the
White House calls, "excessive and extraneous non-emergency spending."
-Billions of dollars in domestic spending for farm drought relief, medical coverage for poor children and hurricane recovery
-Projects on the reconstruction of New Orleans levees and peanut storehouses in Georgia
-$25 million for spinach growers hit by last year's E. coli scare
-$500 million for wildfire prevention for the West Coast
-$120 million for shrimp and Atlantic menhaden fishermen
-$15 million to prevent salt water 'intrusion' on Louisiana rice fields

And there's more as the
NY Times Caucus Blog lists:
-$3 million for funding a sugar cane Hawaiian co-op
-$24 million for funding for sugar beets
-$2 million to the University of Vermont Education Excellence Program
-$25 million for the Safe and Drug Free Schools program
-$48 million for disaster reconstruction for NASA
-$13 million for mine safety research
-$25 million for asbestos abatement and tunnel repair at the Capitol Power Plant
-$640 million for LIHEAP
-$13.2 million for avian flu research and monitoring
-$3.5 million related to guided tours of the U.S. Capitol
-$22.8 million for geothermal research and development
-$12 million for forest service money (requested by the president in the non-emergency FY2008 budget)

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that this amounts to the Democrats trying to buy votes. Plain and simple. Even trying to buy the President's vote with the last one listed. But it's not working.

Here's an example that the
Washington Post points out: "For more than a year, Rep. Charles Boustany Jr. (R) has tried unsuccessfully to secure federal funds to prevent salt water from intruding on rice fields in his lowland Louisiana district. So it came as a surprise last week when Boustany found $15 million in the House's huge war spending bill for his rice farmers. He hadn't even asked that the bill include it."

Fortunately Boustany is not buying it. He said, "It gives me no satisfaction to vote against measures that I have been working for since even before [Hurricane] Katrina, but I cannot in good conscience vote for a bill that does this to our troops," Boustany said yesterday, decrying what he called the "cheap politics" of using disaster aid to win votes on a measure this controversial."

Isn't it interesting that Nancy Pelosi said in response to the President's refusal to sign the last version of the bill, "It is clear that the difference between the Democrats and the president is the issue of accountability. He will not accept any accountability or responsibility for what is happening (in Iraq)."

Ooops.

Is filling the bill with pork to get votes being responsible...and accountable?

John Bolten, former Ambassador to the UN, said the Democrats have made it impossible for the president to sign the bill because of insisting on a timetable for troop withdrawal. "Whether waiveable or not, timelines send exactly the wrong signal to our adversaries, to our allies and, most importantly, to the troops in the field."

Again, the Washington Post reported, "Republicans say the Democrats' failure to pass a "clean'' funding bill without any conditions has hurt military operations around the world by requiring Pentagon planners to juggle money among accounts. Democrats say there is enough money to fund Iraq operations into July -- more than enough time for the deadlock to be resolved."

I say, forget the strong-arming troop-withdrawal requirements, cut the pork, and fund our soldiers!

Congress can come up with other bills for the 'pork' items and even on a time-table for troop withdrawal, but let's stop the 'unaccountable' antics of loading a much needed funding bill, now.

Al Gore's 'Oh Please' Prize

Al Gore was in Oslo a week ago giving his 'inconvenient truth' global warming speech to a crowd that included the chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize committee.

Critics are saying he was there to lobby the committee because he has been nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize

Norwegian members of parliament Børge Brende and Heidi Sørensen, who joined in their nomination despite political differences, (Heidi Sørensen is a member of the Socialist Left Party), jointly say that global climate is a fight for peace.

"This is clearly, absolutely, one of the important efforts to achieve conflict prevention. Climate change can lead to enormous flows of refugees on a scale the world has never seen before. Fighting climate change is immensely important work for global peace," said Heidi Sørensen.

How did the media report on this news?

The Right: Rush Limbaugh said on his show on Friday that the former vice president was there lobbying the committee; that he shouldn't do this but rather have dignity about such things.

The Left: ABC news reported: "There seems little chance of a link between his visits and any dreams of winning the peace prize, since the trips were planned well ahead of his Nobel nomination being announced."

Nominations for this year's peace prize, which is awarded by the five-member Nobel Committee in Oslo, had to be submitted by Feb. 1st.

The winner is announced in mid-October, the prize presented on December 10, the anniversary of the death of its creator, Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, which prize includes 10-million-krona ($1.4 million).

Let me ask you a couple of questions: Whether Gore is lobbying the Nobel committee for their prize or not, do you think he should get it? Even more: Do you think Global Warming is a PEACE (prize) issue?

Global Warming and Peace - let me see - can I connect the dots between the two? Nope. This just another effort by environmentalists around the world to advance their global warming theories and fear tactics.

Keith Olbermann, on his MSNBC television show, accused Marc Morano, Communications Director of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, working for Sen. Inhoffe, and a regular guest on my radio show, for putting out a smear campaign against Al Gore after the former VP's most recent testimony on Capitol Hill on global warming. The former Sr. Staff writer for CNSNews sent out a news release telling of Gore's refusal to take an oath to cut his own energy use. Olbermann called it a 'right-wing venomous campaign' against Gore, pointing out that Marc Morano is a former producer of Rush Limbaugh's television program.

For Full Olbermann Transcript Go here.

Al & Tipper Gore's home uses 20 x's the energy of the average American household, and when challenged by Sen. Inhoffe to basically practice what he preaches, Gore refused to even answer.

To Hear Marc Morano tell all about it on my show Go here (See 3/28/07)

Oh, and did you know that there are people who are going to therapists to get treated for eco-anxiety? One therapist says she sees 40-80 patients a months for this serious global warming fear.

Now, let's see...who's to blame for that? Al Gore? hmmmmm

Allies Back Pres. Bush & Speech on Iraq

Seattlepi.com reports: "President Bush's announcement of a boost in American troops in Iraq won quick support Thursday from U.S. allies as a crucial step toward stabilizing the country and battling terrorism.

The leaders of South Korea, Australia and Japan - all longtime supporters of the U.S.-led mission in Iraq - pledged continued political backing and material help to the beleaguered war effort.

'If America retreats in Iraq, then that has enormous consequences for the stability of the Middle East and it will also be an enormous boost to terrorism in our part of the world,' Australian Prime Minister John Howard said in Sydney."

The Full Text of President Bush's speech tonight.

Highlights via Drudge:

On the role of the Iraqis:

Only the Iraqis can end the sectarian violence and secure their people. And their government has put forward an aggressive plan to do it.

On securing Baghdad:

Our past efforts to secure Baghdad failed for two principal reasons: There were not enough Iraqi and American troops to secure neighborhoods that had been cleared of terrorists and insurgents. And there were too many restrictions on the troops we did have. Our military commanders reviewed the new Iraqi plan to ensure that it addressed these mistakes. They report that it does. They also report that this plan can work…and Prime Minister Maliki has pledged that political or sectarian interference will not be tolerated.

On what Iraq must do:

I have made it clear to the Prime Minister and Iraq’s other leaders that America’s commitment is not open-ended. If the Iraqi government does not follow through on its promises, it will lose the support of the American people – and it will lose the support of the Iraqi people. Now is the time to act. The Prime Minister understands this.

On protecting the American people:

The challenge playing out across the broader Middle East is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of our time…In the long run, the most realistic way to protect the American people is to provide a hopeful alternative to the hateful ideology of the enemy – by advancing liberty across a troubled region.

On bringing our troops home:

[To]step back now would force a collapse of the Iraqi government…Such a scenario would result in our troops being forced to stay in Iraq even longer, and confront an enemy that is even more lethal. If we increase our support at this crucial moment, and help the Iraqis break the current cycle of violence, we can hasten the day our troops begin coming home.
